The latest addition to the Borgo

After a hectic summer in which I also got to know new mandatory activities such as cleaning apartments, washing bed linen, ironing and making beds, there was finally some peace back in life.

In September I decided to get straight to work on the tasks that still await me. But sometimes both your body and your mind say: Stop. Wait a minute. Take it easy.

Sitting still is not for me, so I decided to do something but to keep a much slower pace. There was and is still so much work that needs to be done. In the meantime I also know that renovating such old, natural stone houses may never be completely finished.

Before August I had filled two rooms with all sorts of things including equipment and tools. But winter is also coming and here in the countryside that means: buying wood, buying pellets, cleaning the chimney and preparing rooms.

The new common room

Two rooms full of 'stuff'. That was what I was dreading the most. The only way was forward: empty one room and fill the other room even more. For the common room with kitchen I had to tile first. The old fireplace turned out not to be very reliable with smoke loss in the room, so that had to be removed and a new wooden stove had to be selected and installed. Completely renew the electricity, renew the water pipes and connect the gas. Even at a slower pace it would still take 2 months of work. But it is finally done. The common room with reception, wood stove, large table, wine bar and coffee and juice preparation corner and kitchen is finally finished. Except for a few details of course :)

The garage annex workshop

And am I most happy with the new common room or the new work space in the garage, which almost looks like a man cave and where finally, after so many years, all the tools, screws, nuts and nails can be found in an orderly manner?

Social media

In the beginning of December I decided to stop making weekly update videos for YouTube and I am concentrating more on Instagram. It's all part of life these days, but I can't say that Social Media and I will ever become the best of friends. It doesn't really suit me to add stories every day and it doesn't suit this place either, where there is room for rest and new energy.
