The "I'm leaving" moment
Who doesn't know the well-known Dutch program "Ik vertrek"? A program that follows couples and families who take the step abroad, often with the intention of setting up a B&B or other tourist accommodation. Usually, all sorts of things go wrong, from bureaucratic red tape to financial setbacks.
After almost 4 years of renovations, I was convinced for a long time that this would not happen to me. Everything under control, you know. Unfortunately, reality turned out to be different for me too.
Without the tireless efforts of my Dutch neighbors Gerdrik and Marco, who spent a week shopping in Acqui Terme, Turin and other cities and villages in the area. Hanging curtains, making beds and staging apartments for the first guests.
The electrician who also had to hang the last lamps and ceiling fans for the occasion. The plumber who still had to connect the hot water from the hot water panels. The mason who spent a week 'cleaning up' scaffolding, taking out waste and cleaning the pool.
The deadline
The first guests would arrive at five o'clock in the afternoon. And yes, at 4:00 in the afternoon we could finally open a nice bottle of Alta Langha Spumante together. Just in time.
